To make my mobile, I drew out all the pieces for my mobile, took photos of them and turned them into Adobe Illustrator files. I then used the curvature tool to make smooth outlines of all the pieces and cut them out of wood on the laser cutter. I had to send the file through the laser cutter a few times because it was having trouble cutting though the wood. When I had all my pieces, I took them home and painted them with a few coats of acrylic paint. For the meteor, I painted it a dark orange, then cut flames out of yellow paper and glued it to the meteor with mod podge. I then made the actual meteor part by cutting a rock out of black paper, I gave it 3 layers to make it pop out and I attached it to the base meteor part using mod podge. I cut markings out of colorful paper for the dinosaurs. The markings were hard to cut out and fit properly on the dinosaurs, and I had to use tweezers to place the markings on the dinosaurs. When I had painted everything and added the paper parts, I used a black sharpie to color in the edges of every piece and sealed up the pieces using mod podge. I then cut 9 5" lengths of clear cord and used crimps to attach them to the pieces, when I had put all the pieces on the bones, I glued the two bones together. I then cut two more lengths of the clear cord and attached them to the tops of the bones, holding up the whole mobile. In all, I spent about 14 hours on this project over the weekend, I really need to learn to do things a bit faster. I love the end result of this project, and I don't think that there is anything that I would change or do differently.
